Isaac Andrew Brown was born in Lauderdale, Meridian, MS. He was raised there by his parents Robert Ridney Brown (March 1854- January 23, 1937) and Alice Susan Ethridge (August 10, 1860- October 4, 1940). According to the 1910 to 1940 Census, Isaac was a farmer in Lauderdale. Isaac attended school up till the fifth grade. He registered for the World War I Draft on September 12, 1918, at 39 years old. According to his registration card, Isaac was of average height and average build and worked for a Mr. Wheeler cutting logs. Isaac is one of fourteen children. Isaac married Ella Mae on May 1, 1909.
Ella Mae was born to Lysander Lawrence Mulloy (January 26, 1857- August 15, 1935) and Mary Agnes Bond (June 7, 1867- April 25, 1952). She married once before Isaac, to a man named Nathan William Shields (April 5, 1887- June 29, 1941) in September 1906. Ella Mae attended school through her first year of high school. Ella Mae died in 1978 at 89 years old. She remarried once more to George Thomas Townsend (November 14, 1882- December 8, 1969) after Isaac died in 1941.
